Turkish economy is definitely growing, even better than the BRIC countries who were supposed to rule the roost in the new world economic order. However, the economic growth itself clearly is not a sign of prosperity and welfare at all levels. Extreme social and political polarization of the society, brain drain, PKK and KCK problems ticking like a time bomb and a very unpredictable geography that may pose sudden dangers openly show that Turkey’s sustainable growth may not be in its own hands.

The 3rd  of the biggest festival of Turks in California successfully took place in Orange County last weekend. The 1st Anatolian Cultures & Food Festival three years ago was still good and was a beginning but the depth of the event this year surprised me and most of the visitors. It is getting better and better!

Every century starts with an aspiration to colonize and acquire wealth without a drop of sweat.

Of course, I do not mean any grain of disrespect to our beloved founder by this headline. I am only worried about the way a good chunk of people insensitively think and openly declare nowadays by sharing on social networks that a genuine Turk is like a paper bill and if you cannot see Ataturk through, fake for sure.

Of course it is not.  The past 9 years has turned US from being the ‘big brother ‘of the world who sets the rules and supervises their execution, into the struggling ‘elder brother’ who is still respected by the younger brothers but fails to control them. Almost every single country with a potential in the world that was supposedly a close ally of the American government is straying from the path of big brother in either small or big steps. The gloomy economic outlook of the country since W Bush made USA the wolf without teeth and strength to scare the herd. Economic fatigue of the US is one of the main factors that invigorate North Korea, Russia, Iran, Turkey and many others to behave more independently than ever before.

It is getting tougher and tougher to live in the US. Mortgage crisis, financial melt-down, bail-outs, taxes; the list can definitely grow. It is probably during difficult times that I tend to think about the negative aspects of something I have so far enshrined. Here is my list of every day American experiences that I cannot stand any longer.

Tayyip Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), is leading Turkey for 8 years, fearlessly defying the mazelike junta establishments, the cartel media, and for some, the secular system in Turkey.

Türkiye’de Tayyibiye Meydan Savaşı’nda partisi kapatılmayan siyasetin en büyüğü Tayyip Erdoğan ve medyanın en büyüğü Aydın Doğan çarpışmaya devam ederken evde kan görmeyi midesi kaldırmayan Abdullah Gül bir koşu komşu Ermenistan’a maç izlemeye gitti geldi. İran’la aramız iyi, Ermenilerle düzeliyor, Yunanlıları denize dökmüyoruz artık, gelişmeler güzel. Ev alacak paramız yok, en azından komşu alıyoruz.
