Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that presidency system could be discussed within the scope of the new constitution.
We should understand that democracy was a regime of discussion. We should discuss and talk about everything, Erdogan told reporters at Ankara's Esenboga airport on his return from Italy.
We are currently working on writing a new constitution, said Erdogan adding that the presidency system would take place or not in the new constitution, and this was another issue. Parliamentary Constitution Committee will begin to write the new constitution of Turkey on May 10. Turkey is currently using the 1982 constitution which replaced the earlier constitution of 1961.
