This is the incredible honor for us. Our Prophet is the best prophet. Because he was sent as a mercy for whole world. Having said that, in today’s khutbah, I would like to explain some of the qualities of the faithful as described in the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet peace be upon Him. As you all know, mu’min is a name given to such a person who believe and place his trust in Allah, the Almighty. A lot of Qur’anic verses emphasize the main characteristics of a believers in a special chapterand in different places.
Depending on theseverses, we can say that, a perfect believer is such person who strongly believe in God, the supreme creator, exceedingly merciful, exceedingly compassionate, the source of peace and safe, perfect, allknowing, allseeing, thearbitrator, utterlyjust, gentle, the allaware, The Much-Forgiving, much forgiver, the guardian, the eternal, self-sufficient, omnipotent, the Lord of majesty and generosity, source of good and light, the patient.
A true mu’min, who believes in Allah with such attributes and also believe in the last Day, the angels, the holy Books, the prophets, seks the consent of Allah, through obedience and righteousness, gives of his substance, however cherished to kinsmen, and orphans, the needy, the traveler, beggars, and ransoms the slave, performs the prayer, pays the alms. Fulfills his covenant when he has engaged in a covenant, and endures with fortitude, misfortune, hardship and peril. He also takes our Prophet (S.A.W) as an example in all other aspects of his life, follows his moral values, attaches great importance to knowledge, promotes goodness, justice and truth, triesto be the best of people, who do good and forbid evil and endeavors to be truthful of speech, tocarefor his relatives, to be kind to his neighbors, to refrain from unlawful food and drinks.
Dear Muslims, What I have referred to so far are only a few of characteristics of the true believers mentioned in the Qur’an, among many others. To carry out our responsibilities as Mu’mins and Muslims, we should represent a good person, a person of truth, a person of sincerity and person of virtue. Our lives should be an open invitation through which people see the beauty of Islam and find it an interesting code of ethics and teachings to follow. I would like finish the khutbah with a hadith which we especially need to remember today: The Prophetsays: A Muslim is one from whose hand and tongue the Muslims are safe. A believer is one from whom the people are safe with regard to their life and goods.
