China and US Strategy and Economy Dialogue began in Beijing on Thursday.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Wang Qishan, State Councilor Dai Bingguo and more than 20 high-level officials from both sides are attending the talks.
In the inauguration of the two-day dialogue, Chinese President Hu Jintao said that Strategy and Economy Dialogue was beneficial for both mutual understanding and consolidation of friendship between the two countries. President Hu Jintao also said, "China and USA should support peace and stability in the Pacific."
The aim of the dialogue is to deepen strategic cooperation and the mutual economic interests of both countries.
The talks continue under the shadow of the political tension due to the leave of fugitive opposition Chen Guangcheng who escaped from house arrest, after six days of stay at US Embassy in Beijing.
