Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Wednesday said that the Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory was a violation of international laws.
In a written statement released Wednesday, the MFA said that Israel added new settlements on to the Palestinian territory under occupation. We strongly condemn Israel's decision to open a tender for new settlements in the "Nof Zion" and "Givat Zeev" regions of Eastern Jerusalem and to legitimize settlements in the "Rehalim, Bruchin and Sansana" regions of the West Bank, the MFA stressed. All Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory are against international laws. Efforts to legitimize such settlements under Israeli laws does not change this reality, the MFA indicated. With its acts and settlements, Israel continues to be an obstacle to revitalize the peace process and hurt the vision for a two state solution, the MFA underlined. Within this frame, the international community must stress that the Israeli settlements are unacceptable. We invite Israel to fulfill its responsibilities based on international laws and to end activities that destroy efforts for peace, the MFA also said.
