As a result of the action campaign by the Pax Turcica Institute (PTI), with endorsement from both the Assembly and the Federation of Turkish-American Associations, Azerbaijani-American Council and Azerbaijan Society of America, on April 3rd, 2012, the Governor of the U.S. State of Illinois, Pat Quinn, signed a greeting proclamation, to celebrate April 23rd, 2012 as the Turkish National Sovereignty & Children's Day.
The scan of the original proclamation is accessible at:

“The Governor's proclamation is based on the sample resolution available at http://april23.paxturcica.org and prepared by the Pax Turcica for its second annual Turkish National Day action. This is another state-level recognition obtained by the Pax Turcica Institute within one month, with the previous one being House Resolution 1594 on Khojaly in the U.S. State of Georgia on February 24, 2012.
Building on this success, we call upon all Turkish-, Azerbaijani- and Turkic-Americans and friends of Turkey, to join the Pax Turcica April 23rd campaign and to request greeting statements from their elected officials on the eve of April 23,” Pax Turcica wrote.
