European commissioner for energy said on Friday that Europe needed the energy to come from Russia and Turkey.
Guenter Oettinger said that population in the Mediterranean basin was expected to climb to 80 million by 2030, and this would increase energy need.
Therefore, the European Union (EU) gave priority to energy infrastructural projects and alternative energy supplies in the region, Oettinger said a panel discussion that took place on the sidelines of the 48th Munich Security Conference.
Oettinger highlighted importance of ensuring energy safety, and said Europe needed the energy to come from Russia and Turkey.
The commissioner expressed belief that more cooperation in energy and more energy independence would boost relations among countries.
