Honorary citizens of Republic of Korea recognized Turkish American Community Activists Ibrahim Kurtulus .

A ceremony was held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at office of the Consulate General of The Republic of Korea conference center where the honorary citizenship was given by Ambassador/ Consul General of the Republic of Korea Hyo-Sung Park and Consul Jin –Hong Rim who presented Ibrahim Kurtulus with a medal, certificate of Citizenship , and citizenship card of the Republic of Korea. The ceremony was also attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey to New York Ertan Yalcin and Deputy Consul General Reyhan Ozgur and many Korean Diplomats..
Ibrahim Kurtulus said " I EXPRESS MY HEARTFELT APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF S. KOREA 'S CONSUL GENERAL HYO -SUNG PARK AND CONSUL JIN-HONG RIMM AND FOR THE DECISION OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA , SEOUL METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT TO CONFER UPON ME AN HONORARY CITIZENSHIP. I AM INDEED PROUD TO HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THIS SINGULAR HONOUR.
Mr. Kurtulus also said : The foundations of this special friendship had been laid by Turkish, Korean Soldiers During the Korean War who fought shoulder to shoulder to defend freedom in South Korea.
I have no doubt that, taking its strength from those days, the solidarity and friendship between our countries has continued to develop and with stand all the challenges which may lie ahead.
I hope that with the Certificate of Honorary Citizenship of the Republic of S. Korea, City of Soul given to me that the Republic of Turkey and Republic of S. Korea will be brought closer together in cooperative activities and exchanges that would boost trade, tourism and above all, deepen the brotherhood between our peoples." Also present at the ceremony was Ibrahim Kurtulus mother Necmiye Kurtulus , his friends Erhan Atay and Ridvan Sezer. After the ceremony the Consulate General of S.Korea in New York gave a dinner to Honor Ibrahim Kurtulus and his guest at Turkish restaurant Ali Baba.
