In a meeting held on Monday, the Secretariat General for the European Union (EU) and European Commission signed an agreement to finance the 2009 leg of a project designed to promote Turkey's participation in relevant programs and agencies. The meeting was attended by Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis, Secretary General for EU Ambassador Volkan Bozkir and Head of the Turkey Delegation of the European Commission Ambassador Marc Pierini. The participants of the meeting evaluated the 2009 national program and decided to continue projects related to education, culture, tourism, customs, employment and social solidarity, competition and innovation, Seventh framework, environment and counter-narcotics. The project has a budget of 151 million euros out of which 88 million euros will be funded by the European Union within the framework of 2009 program.
