Turkish Cypriot President Mehmet Ali Talat said he and Greek Cypriot President Dimitris Christofias shared their views on the issue of federal government authorities with each other in their meeting Tuesday.

According to Talat, both sides had differing views on the subject. “We asked questions to better understand each other’s suggestions. We also made some proposals,” he said. “Although a conclusion was not made on the subject, we understood each other better.

The Turkish Cypriot president said the sides would work on the subject and discuss it again. “In this round [of talks], instead of answering each other by giving each other documents, we discussed the topics and left it to be discussed at a later meeting,” Talat said.

He said the same method was applied on the issue of properties, and that representatives would convene Thursday to discuss the criteria on this subject. The issue will be discussed Nov. 2 when the leaders meet again.

Talat said the issue of foreign relations could not be discussed as the meeting overran its planned time. The subject, he added, would be discussed at a later date.
