Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked Slovak government for its support to Turkey's bid to become a member of the European Union.

“They have never left us alone in our EU process. I believe Slovakia's support will continue," Erdogan told a joint press conference with Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico in Ankara on Tuesda y.

Erdogan said Turkish President Abdullah Gul, who also met Fico earlier in the day, was scheduled to make a visit to Slovakia in early November, adding that he wanted to travel to this country with a large group of Turkish businessmen right after Gul's visit.

He said such mutual visits could help grow trade volume between the two countries, which was nearly 1 billion USD last year.

Erdogan also asked Fico to end visa requirements between Turkey and Slovakia to boost tourism mutually.
