The "Season of Turkey" activities in France have increased the number of French tourists visiting Turkey, tourism minister said on Wednesday.
Turkey's Culture & Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay said that the number of French tourists visiting Turkey was up 10 percent in 2009.
"The Season of Turkey activities have positive effects," he told AA correspondent.
The "Season of Turkey" activities started in France at the beginning of July with a show of the "Fire of Anatolia" dance group and "Mercan Dede" concert.
Turkey will be promoted by over 400 artistic and cultural activities in more than 70 cities in France for nine months.
"The Ottoman Caftans" exhibition at the Louvre Museum and "Istanbul for Centuries" exhibition at the Grand Palais will be the highlights of the season.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul and French President Nicolas Sarkozy will inaugurate the exhibition at the Grand Palais.
The Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris, will be illuminated by the colors of Turkish flag, red and white, for four days.
Also, Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe presented the key of Paris to Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk, director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and photographer Ara Guler.
The "Season of Turkey" aims to contribute to promotion of Turkey's dynamics, creative differences, culture and heritage to the French society.
