President Obama has continued the tradition started by President Kennedy of recognizing the month of May as “Older Americans Month.”  The following are some common-sense safety tips that can help ensure your safety and peace of mind.

There are approximately 250,000 outstanding warrants in Brooklyn for charges including Loitering, Littering, Consumption of Alcohol in Public, Failure to Have a Dog License and Unlawfully Being in a Park After Hours.

Approximately one in three Americans owns a smartphone.

Since 1983 the month of April has been designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month primarily in order to increase public awareness about child abuse and neglect, and in order to create strong communities to support children. 

There has been a number of requests for an explanation of the new legislation in New York addressing the collection of DNA from persons arrested for various different types of crimes.

Last week in honor of Women’s History Month 33 honorees were celebrated for their accomplishments in their careers and their service to the communities in which they live. 

On April 17, 2012, this office will host the Third Annual Brooklyn Crime Victim’s  VOICE-Out (Victims on the Impact of Crime Event) at Brooklyn Borough Hall. 

Next month my office, together with Brooklyn Clergy, the New York State Office of Court Administration, the Legal Aid Society, and the New York City Police Department will implement Project Safe Surrender, a community program designed to help individuals resolve outstanding summonses and warrants.
